Julien Maire - “Demi-Pas”
Saturday 11/12/10  & Sunday 12/12/10 – 16:00, Cinema Zuid, Lakenstraat 14, 2000 Antwerp
By directly projecting a three dimensional object, mechanism in order to obtain a picture, this work (mechanisms in slide-form, or “Diapositives”), is experimenting with a different kind of cinema. The presence of objects and elements in the slide creates its own live action. The spectator shuttles constantly between his view of the projected object and his supposition of what is really contained in the projector. The image projected is by definition weightless. By introducing real elements I am attempting to give it a particular physical consistency. This first work with slides is presented during a thirty minutes projection-performance which includes about twenty devices. Each “Slide” describe a very short story and the projection (with an adapted slide projector) juxtaposing them in an experimental production. The following work “Demi-pas” is more recent and develop the concept of ” inverted camera “: a computer assisted slide projector which is able to produce a “film”.
Kurt D’Haeseleer - Scripted Emotions
Saturday 11/12/10  & Sunday 12/12/10 – continuous 12:00 – 19:00,  FotoMuseum, Waalsekaai 47, 2000 Antwerp
SCRIPTED EMOTIONS is a pseudo romantic drama for two virtual binoculars. A love affair loses its two protagonists, and the spectator loses his illusions in an interactive panoramic installation. SCRIPTED EMOTIONS refers to the controlled emotional outbursts actors have to master.
Not only do the characters seem to have problems with scripted behavior in this installation, the landscape behind them is more than a background and turns out to be the real protagonist. Two tourist's binoculars generate a trompe l’oeil, a visual translation of a world that suffers from a high pulse and is veined with fiberglass cable and satellite links.
